As part of our ongoing mission to improve the health and wellness of community residents, Long Beach Medical Center has developed the following panel of speakers and programs, which are available to community organizations and groups.  Our staff welcomes the opportunitiy to raise awareness and offer education on disease prevention and lifestyle changes that will enhance health.

Health Information on the Web: Finding Reliable Sources Ruth Leibowitz, Librarian The Web is an excellent resource for medical information, but knowing which sites are reliable and credible are important. Learn where to find reliable consumer health information on the internet (doctor’s credentials, hospital and drug information, tips for healthy living) and how to discuss information you find online with your doctor.
Movements for Better Balance Physical Therapy Staff This program incorporates a set of slow, simple movements adapted from a variety of eastern modalities including T’ai Chi, Chi Gung and Yoga. These unique exercises were selected for individuals who would like to increase balance control and decrease falls.
Take Back Your Life: New Therapies for Depression and Anxiety Counseling Center Staff  Depression is not a normal part of aging. Learn the common warning signs and what you can do to help yourself or someone you care about.

Dealing With Your Child’s Special Needs Counseling Center This presentation will address the feelings that a parent may experience when faced with having a child with developmental delays or disabilities. It will address not only the parent’s feelings, but also offer coping strategies for them as well.
