Sub-Acute Care at The Komanoff Center for Geriatric & Rehabilitative Care
The Komanoff Center for Geriatric & Rehabilitative Medicine is a leading provider of short-term, subacute rehabilitative care. Whether you are recovering from orthopedic surgery or recuperating from another medical issue, our short-term rehabilitation programs will help you get better so you can return home more quickly.
What makes us unique?
The choice of where you’re going to recuperate following your hospitalization is as important as your choice of physician and hospital. You want experienced staff who are experts in their field. The Komanoff Center offers just that and more!
Extensive Resources on Site
We’re hospital-based; a unique designation that means the full resources of Long Beach Medical Center’s hospital are immediately available if ever the need arises. This includes immediate access to our state-of-the-art Emergency Department, as well as easy, indoor access to treatment services such as dialysis and wound care & hyperbaric therapy. It also offers peace of mind knowing that hospital-based resident physicians are onsite 24/7, if needed.
Highly-trained staff
As a leader in rehabilitative care, The Komanoff Center offers a multidisciplinary team approach. Team members include physiatrists, neurologists, rehabilitation nurses, physical and occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, respiratory therapists, social workers, recreational therapists, dance and art therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists and nutritionists. Working together, our team develops a therapeutic program that is specifically designed to help you reach your personal goals. Your program is reviewed regularly and therapies changed as your condition progresses – all directed at helping you reach your maximum potential.
We’re shaping the future! Long Beach Medical Center is a training site for some of the future’s brightest physicians, hosting a post-graduate Residency Program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and a Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine in affiliation with the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. These accredited programs ensure that the latest therapies and treatments are being provided to our patients.

High quality care is a hallmark at The Komanoff Center for Geriatric & Rehabilitative Medicine. For the past two years, The Komanoff Center has earned a five-star ranking in overall quality in the US Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CVMS) Nursing Home Compare listing.
