Joint Partnership: LBMC & HJD/NYU Langone Medical Center

Best of Both Worlds in Orthopedic Care

Long Island residents have the best of both worlds when it comes to orthopaedic and rehabilitation care thanks to a new clinical collaboration between Hospital for Joint Diseases (HJD) at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City and Long Beach Medical Center (LBMC) in Long Beach.

This new collaboration brings together surgeons from Hospital for Joint Disease, who will see patients on the campus of Long Beach Medical Center, and surgeons and rehabilitation specialists from Long Beach Medical Center.  Now, patients can receive all of their orthopaedic care in one location, eliminating the inconvenience of traveling to Manhattan for sophisticated spine and joint replacement care.

“Our affiliation with the Hospital for Joint Diseases will only strengthen our ability to provide sophisticated spine surgery and joint replacement services to our patients,” said Douglas L. Melzer, chief executive officer of Long Beach Medical Center.  “This new relationship will provide patients with a seamless encounter of exceptional orthopedic and rehabilitative services under one umbrella of care, all within close proximity to their home.”

Joseph Zuckerman, M.D., chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at NYU Langone Medical Center added, “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to provide orthopaedic care to the residents of Long Island – on Long Island.  This collaboration offers prospective patients the ability to receive outstanding, specialized medical care for orthopaedics and rehabilitation in their own back yard.”
